BLOCKHOUSE TRADING COMPANY building

The Blockhouse Trading Company store was owned by Peter Young for over 30 years. The original building was a single storey and was attached to the building across the street (now Lantzalot Games).

The store counter comes from across the street, as do the built in shelves. The large display cabinet is from a old general store in New Germany. The second level of our store was built later under ownership of the Ernst family.

Once Peter owned the building, he skillfully undertook renovations to rescue the building. He also ran it as a shoe repair and a kayak store. It was then used for storage for many years and is now enjoying its renaissance by celebrating its past. It has become a fitting tribute to Peter who spent his life restoring and renovating buildings, and helping people in his community.

BLOCKHOUSE TRADING COMPANY concept

Both the first owners of the building and Peter were avid collectors of history, information and eclectic items. This formula, along with our appreciation for vintage design and quality, led to the concept of a combined community vintage consignment store, and display of local history.

We value our clients, customers and community. Locals can consign or donate vintage items to us. We also help counsel local seniors and their families with preparations for downsizing.

Our consignors choose local charities to benefit from our annual donations which are based on the total sales of consignment and donated items.

We hope the community shares their stories of local characters, events and even artefacts.  We aim to grow our historical exhibit and welcome donations to it. We also have an online gallery of the photos we own and a blog. We encourage community discussion about Blockhouse and surrounding area, about supporting our community and about your thoughts on consignment.
